The 2008-09 UTC Pre-professional Dance Company...



   

Danielle Abraham, 14, is in 8th grade at Harlem Middle School in Loves Park, IL. She started dancing when she was four years old with the Metropolitan School of Ballet in Rockford. She moved to Terry’s UAC studio in Belvedere, and then eventually followed him to St. Charles when he opened his new studio. She has primarily focused on Ballet and Pointe, but has also studied jazz, contemporary, and character. She has performed with several companies, including the Underground Theatre Company, Madison Ballet, Rockford Dance Company, and the Metropolitan School of Ballet. Her aspiration is to dance with a professional ballet company.

   

Erin Allegretti, 16, is a sophomore at St. Charles North High School. Erin started dancing 13 years ago, and has been working with Terry at UAC for three years. Her accomplishments include Le Corsaire with the American Ballet Theatre at the Lyric Opera in Chicago, as well the Nutcracker with the Joffrey Ballet. A recipient of a 2008 National Scholarship from New York City Dance Alliance, Erin has participated in several major company training seminars, including ABT, the Joffrey Ballet, and the Interlochen School of Performing Arts Summer Program. She has also performed for three years with the Inaside Chicago Dance Company, For the Cause. Erin hopes to become a professional dancer.

   

Annika Clementi, 15, is a sophomore at Rosary High School. She has been dancing for seven years. She has also performed in several theatrical plays in the area, including “1776,” “Dumb Luck,” and “The Star Child.” This marks her third year at Underground Arts Connection, and she studies Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary and Character. Her favorite style is Ballet.

   

Sydney Czuprynski, 12, is in 7th grade at Kenyon Woods Middle School in South Elgin. She began dancing at the age of three, and was a member of the Motions Dance Company in Bartlett for three years. She has participated in numerous recitals, guest choreographer showcases, and was a cast member in “The Nightmare before Christmas” and “The Polar Express.” Sydney began dancing at UAC in June 2008 and was in the summer performance, “Trio.” She would like to be a professional dancer and choreographer.

   

Janelle Deetjen, 13, is in 8th grade at Wredling Middle School in St. Charles. She has been dancing since the age of 3, and for the past four years she was a member of Motions Dance Company. This is her first year as a member of the Underground Theatre Company. She has studied all genres of dancing, including ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary, character, tap, lyrical, hip hop, and musical theatre. In addition to studio classes, she has competed and performed in various venues through the Chicago land area. A few of her favorite shows were “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “School House Rock,” “Polar Express,” and “Once Upon a Mattress.” Her dream is to perform and sing on Broadway.

   

Kym McDaniel is 18 and a part-time student at College of DuPage. Kym started dancing at age 14 at State Street Dance Studio where she performed at Dance Chicago in addition to other suburban venues. She started dancing at Underground Arts Connection in April 2008 under the direction of Terry Fox. Kym plans to double major in dance and secondary education and looks forward to auditioning at colleges in the upcoming year.

   

Alyssa Rhoads is a 14 year-old freshman at Geneva High School. She has taken technique classes for seven years. During four of those years she has competed with Copeland Dance Academy and Chicago Dance Elite. She also performed with Inaside Chicago Dance in their “For the Cause” show in September 2007. Alyssa has been a student at Underground Arts Connection for about a year, and would like to continue training and performing in the Chicago area and beyond. She plans to attend college and work towards a degree in Fine Arts – ultimately, she hopes to pursue a career in dance.

   

Brooke Robison is 9 years old, and is in the 4th grade at Davis Elementary School in St. Charles. She starting taking ballet lessons at the Sylvia Studio of Ballet in Ann Arbor, MI when she was three, and joined Underground Arts Connection when she and her family moved to St. Charles in 2007. Brooke also plays the violin and loves math. She is not really sure what she wants to be when she grows up yet, but right now she is thinking she might want split her time between being a professional dancer and a crime scene investigator. She is very excited to be part of the Underground Theatre Company, and can’t wait for the many upcoming adventures.

   

Victoria “Tori” Romba is eighteen years old and a senior at Aurora Central Catholic High School. She began her pre-professional training at the age of twelve, and has been a student of Terry Fox for the past three years. Tori feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to train under such creative and rigorous direction at Underground Arts Connection. She is looking forward to the upcoming performances for the 2008-2009 season, and hopes to pursue dance in college.

   

Olivia Sandstrom is a senior at St. Charles East High School. She has been dancing for seven years at different studios and was on the dance team at STCE. This is her second year dancing at UAC and it has been a great experience! She plans to continue dancing in college, and hopes one day to have a career as a choreographer.
