The Underground Theatre Company is off to a good start for 2009, thanks to supporters who helped make our first fundraising benefit, the 2008 Silver Bell Gala, a success! Held on December 7 at the Royal Fox Country Club in St. Charles, the gala drew in about 150 guests - including family and friends of UTC's pre-professional company, as well as supporters from companies in the community. The PPC kicked off the event with a short presentation, performing two original pieces choreographed by UTC's founder and artistic director, Terry Fox. Following the holiday dinner, guests took their turn on the dance floor to the sounds of Chicago's premier cuban band, Son de la Habana. In all, UTC raised about $8,000, which will be used to support the pre-professional company's 2009 initiatives, including participation in the TANZOLYMP Berlin Dance Festival in February, a local spring performance, participation in UAC's international seminar in Ischia, Italy, in July, and other training opportunities throughout the year. Terry and his small staff would like to thank everyone who came out in support of UTC, particularly the families who volunteered their time and efforts to make the event a success! And, many thanks to the talented musicians who gave our guests a night of beautiful music ~ |
